About this Project

Our client, UK Power Networks Services (UKPNS) was asked to oversee the reduced power demands during the decommissioning of Wylfa Magnox nuclear power station. The future requirements need to meet a completely new system and WCS is glad to provide the civil engineering design of the new 11kV substation and associated cable route that’s required.

The unique challenges of this site include its harsh exposure conditions on the North Wales coast and the integration of the new substation into the existing cable infrastructure beneath the existing reactor building.
