Rail: Civils & Structures
WCS has provided a complete civil & structural engineering design service for this new ticket hall and nearby ticket gate for Reading West station.
As part of our client’s Civil Asset Maintenance (CAM) – Anglia region framework for Network Rail, WCS were asked to attend site and provide a design solution to relieve pressure on a section of existing reinforced concrete retaining wall separating the track from private homeowners’ property.
Significant defects were encountered at this rail overbridge in Shadwell, East London. WCS was called to site to carry out multiple inspections for our client and the Network Rail assessment team.
WCS provided design for Grip stages 4 & 5 for essential repairs to damaged elements of this brick arch rail bridge between Limehouse and Fenchurch Street for Amco Giffen, part of our client’s work for Network Rail under the Civil Asset Maintenance (CAM) Framework.
Urgent works were required for our client, J. Murphy & Sons Ltd. as part of their Civil Asset Maintenance contract with Network Rail on this overbridge in Willesden.
A lorry strike at this rail underbridge in Wickford, Essex meant WCS were called to inspect and assess the level of damage and residual hazard caused by the collision.
As part of our Civil Asset Maintenance framework, WCS were called on New Year’s Day to inspect and assess accidental damage to the road bridge at Shoreditch High Street caused by excavations at street level.
Repairs and strengthening works were required to three footbridges at Goodmayes, Seven Kings and Brentwood stations for our client J. Murphy & Sons Limited as part of the CP6 framework.
We provided surveys and dilapidation reports on the Amenity Block and Fuel Point Shed in order to catalogue their condition.

Power & Energy
WCS are providing a fully comprehensive civil engineering design for this new 33kV substation compound at a disused site near Nottingham.
WCS has assisted with the undertaking of the ground investigation surveys and provided engineering design for new substation foundations and cable routes necessary for two critical elements of work at Trinity Terminal and Berths 8&9.
WCS is providing detailed civil engineering design and survey services for a new 11kV substation and associated cable route that’s required as part of the decommissioning of Wylfa Magnox nuclear power station in north Wales.
We have been appointed by Buckland Development Ltd to provide the civil engineering design for a new 132kV substation that will power this ambitious new Garden Village development on the south coast.
