PROJECT

Port of Felixstowe

ABOUT THIS PROJECT

UK Power Networks Services (UKPNS) was engaged to complete two critical elements of work at Trinity Terminal and Berths 8&9, as part of the Port’s effort to decarbonize its vehicle fleet and replace existing diesel vehicles with electric (EV). WCS has assisted with the undertaking of the ground investigation surveys and provided engineering design for new substation foundations and cable routes necessary for the construction of the new substations.

The unique nature of the site offered numerous challenges to the project requiring both road and rail crossings for the new cable routes under extremely high loading conditions from the Port’s new fleet of Internal Movement Vehicles (IMV) and rubber-tyred gantry cranes.
